WE'RE REVOLUTIONIZING EDUCATION TO TEACH CAREFUL, CLEAR REASONING
A FAMILIAR PROBLEM
We’re motivated by a problem with many symptoms:
- Politics is polarized, and group-think is rife.
- People feel overloaded with headlines, clips, and threads.
- Students are totally checked out, and educators don't have a fix.
What is the root cause? Many say that people don’t listen, and don’t think clearly.
So, engaging difficult topics and disagreements (especially political ones) will always, inevitably, end in frustration and even anger.
OUR DIAGNOSIS GOES DEEPER
Most people– including nearly half of all college graduates– never learned how to listen, think, or communicate with precision.
We don’t know how to listen
We don’t know how to think clearly
We don’t know how to communicate about controversial issues
…and we don’t know what we don’t know.
DISCORD TO DISCOURSE
At Thinkeranalytix, we attack the problem head-on by working the next generation of business, civic, and social leaders: our students.
We envision a world in which students have the skills and confidence to:
- Move from fallacious thinking to thoughtful, logical reasoning
- Diffuse heat and emotion to make room for cool, careful listening
- Identify their own confusion, and engage to learn more deeply
To do this, we need a shared touchstone– not a shared set of beliefs, but a shared set of steps that we use to discuss and debate what we believe. That’s what TA programs provide.
ABOUT US
ThinkerAnalytix is an education non-profit organization spun out of the Harvard University Department of Philosophy. Why philosophy? For philosophers, disagreement is expected, even invited, to tackle seemingly impossible problems. History shows that the best learning happens through disagreement that is inquisitive, respectful, and fearless.
