Help us bring our model to scale!
As we enter this fraught election season, many teachers want to discuss current issues with students. Yet, often when discussing controversial topics, students rely on unsubstantiated facts or emotional appeals, rather than evidence and reasoning. How can we teach students to listen respectfully and defend their views courageously – to cultivate both empathy and logical rigor?
Since 2014, ThinkerAnalytix has worked with Harvard Philosophers and classroom teachers to develop a brand new critical thinking course called How We Argue. Our course uses argument mapping to help students support their claims and to better understand those with whom they disagree. Research from top universities shows that mapping significantly improves students’ critical thinking skills and may even decrease partisan polarization.
Help us bring our course to teachers and students nationwide, so that we can all discuss current issues with precision and care.
